Proceeds supporting the new state-of-the art cardiovascular pavilion at Mount Nittany Medical Center
The 29th Annual Mount Nittany Health Golf Classic was held Saturday, August 10, 2019 at the Penn State Golf Courses and raised $206,000. Proceeds will support construction of a new state-of-the art cardiovascular pavilion at Mount Nittany Medical Center slated to open September 4, 2019. In total, more than $2.5 million has been raised to help advance healthcare in the region since the Golf Classic’s inception in 1991.
A unique feature of Mount Nittany Medical Center’s Golf Classic is the random drawing of one registered golfer for a grand prize of $12,000 or a 2019 Chevrolet Spark. Bill Jesserer, guest of Northwest Bank won the grand prize and chose the cash option.
“We are so thankful for the support that continues to make this a premier tournament in our community and supports so many of the quality services that Mount Nittany Health provides for this region,” said Christopher Yingling, co-chair of the golf classic.
The Golf Classic committee is committed to raising $1 million by 2020 for the new cardiovascular pavilion at Mount Nittany Medical Center. At Mount Nittany Health, we are committed to evolving our health system to meet the changing needs of those we serve. Last August, we celebrated the official kickoff of the new cardiovascular pavilion project at Mount Nittany Medical Center with a special sky-breaking community event to celebrate the raising of the final beam in the framing of the structure.
Scheduled to open in fall 2019, the 26,000-square-foot cardiovascular pavilion will include an updated cardiac catheterization lab and electrophysiology lab spaces, complete with new imaging and monitoring technology. With the patient experience in mind, a large waiting area, situated within the sunlight structure; eight to ten convenient flex bay patient areas; and bright, comfortable patient meeting areas are just some of the updated features that will help us serve the growing number of people who trust us with their heart.
To date, the Golf Classic committee has raised more than $856,000 toward its $1 million goal. Special thanks to Dave and Karen Demers, grateful patients of the cath lab, who shared their story with attendees of the dinner. After their compelling presentation, an appeal was held raising $47,000!
Congratulations to Brian McWhirter, winner of the raffle for the St. John's vacation package.
