This past summer, the State College Sunrise Rotary and State College Downtown Rotary clubs took over efforts to care for the Healing Garden at Mount Nittany Medical Center. The region’s first healing garden of its kind complements the full range of healthcare services offered by Mount Nittany Medical Center and is designed to provide stress relief for patients, families, providers, staff and the community.

Members of the clubs help maintain the tranquility of the Healing Garden by weeding and watering the plants and grass. They also plan to help prepare the garden for the winter along with replanting in the spring.

“I am impressed with the calmness and beauty of the garden. It provides a wonderful place for those dealing with health and other personal issues," said Lam Hood, Sunrise Rotary Club member. "Rotary is a service organization. The State College Sunrise Rotary Club has supported many local organizations including the Youth Service Bureau, United Way and Housing Transitions. The Healing Garden was a natural for us."

“It has been great to find organizations to assist with caring for the garden,” said Melissa Aungst, specialist, Mount Nittany Health Foundation. “We have received so many compliments on the planters from our patients and staff.”

Please help us thank them for all of their hard work!
