Pink Ribbon Golf Classic brings in $20,000 for Mount Nittany Health Breast Care Center

2018 Pink Ribbon Golf Classic Committee

The 5th Annual Pink Ribbon Golf Classic was rained out for outdoor golf on Monday, September 10 at Toftrees, but the committee planned an indoor event for the participants and pulled off a fun-filled indoor event, raising a net figure of $20,000 benefitting Mount Nittany Health Breast Care Center.

With 94 registered golfers and 22 volunteers ready to tee off at the event, they instead participated in an indoor putting and chipping contest and enjoyed participating in raffle prizes and a luncheon.

The winners of the contests were:

Putting Contest:

  • First place: Mary Lou Shedden
  • Second place (tie): Carolyn Sager & Gloria Brown

Chipping Contest:

  • First place: Ginny Hosterman
  • Second place: Donna Nace
  • Third Place: Patty Nellis

Sue Paterno, keynote speaker, addressed the crowd with an inspiring presentation about a woman’s journey through healthcare, specifically addressing her opportunity to get the first mammogram.  “They were lined up at the office waiting to see Dr. Jane Strickler,” states Paterno.  Dr. Strickler was instrumental in implementing the breast care center.  “We have come a long way in the field of mammography and each one of you have played a role in the improvements over the years,” added Paterno.
