Get to know the newest providers at Mount Nittany Health who are ready to care for you and your family.
Moira Nester, CRNP, recently joined Mount Nittany Physician Group Family Medicine at its Mount Nittany Health – Mifflin County location in Reedsville. “My philosophy of care involves treating each patient as a whole person,” says Nester. “We all have our own personal, medical and spiritual needs. It’s important to work with patients to create a care plan as unique as they are.”
Rachel Zimmerman, DO, is the newest member of the Mount Nittany Physician Group pediatric hospitalist program. Pediatric hospitalists are specially trained in caring for young patients needing inpatient care. Dr. Zimmerman’s philosophy of care is to treat each family with compassion. “Being in the hospital is hard on kids and families,” she shares. “My hope with each case is to educate patients on their condition and how to effectively treat it, while minimizing the stress associated with a hospitalization.”
“I recognize that there are many ways to approach health and wellness concerns, so I work hard to individualize care,” says Kristine Charles, MD, Mount Nittany Physician Group OB/GYN. “Everyone’s story and situation is unique and calls for a plan that fits her social, economic, religious and cultural views. It’s important for a doctor to know patients on that level and work together with them to achieve their healthcare goals.
With more than 20 years of clinical experience, Linda Kurtz, MD, FAAP, joins the team at Mount Nittany Physician Group Pediatrics, at its Mount Nittany Health – Boalsburg location. Her philosophy of care focuses on empathy. “All patients – especially children – are at their most vulnerable when they’re ill. It’s very important that I put myself in every patient situation and think about how I would want to be treated,” she shares. “Compassion and understanding is key.”
Mount Nittany Health is pleased to welcome Qasim Salimi, MD, to Mount Nittany Physician Group Gastroenterology. “Relating to my patients in a direct, yet compassionate manner has always been essential to my philosophy of care,” says Dr. Salimi. “My goal is to work together with each patient to achieve the best possible care for him or her. It’s truly a team effort.”
“Being able to help patients improve their quality of life – helping them get better – is the most rewarding work I can imagine,” says Jesse Jennings, MD. “Knowing that I’ve played a role in fixing a problem that allows someone to move on with their life is the best feeling there is.” Dr. Jenning is part of the team at Mount Nittany Physician Group Ear, Nose & Throat/Audiology, located at the Mount Nittany Health – Boalsburg location.
Mount Nittany Health is pleased to announce the addition of Sarah Wakefield, AuD, to Mount Nittany Physician Group Ear, Nose & Throat/Audiology. “Hearing loss impacts each person differently,” shares Dr. Wakefield. “It’s important to listen to each patient and fully understand their situation in order to best treat and manage their hearing healthcare needs.”
Kevin Wilson, MD, is an orthopedic sports medicine specialist with Mount Nittany Physician Group Orthopedics. “Helping people get back to where they want to be is what inspires me as a surgeon,” says Dr. Wilson. “Listening to a patient’s story and then working for ways to help them meet their goals is incredibly rewarding.”
Allison Guillard, CRNP, recently transferred from her time with Mount Nittany Physician Group Internal Medicine, where she has practiced since September 2017, to Mount Nittany Physician Group Urology. “I am excited to transition to urology and join yet another excellent team of Mount Nittany Physician Group providers who seek to improve the quality of life of their patients,” shares Guillard.
Mount Nittany Health is pleased to announce that Jonathan Ashley, MD, has joined the Mount Nittany Physician Group hospitalist program.A 2018 graduate of the Penn State Health Family and Community Medicine Residency at Mount Nittany Medical Center, Dr. Ashley served as chief resident of the program from 2017-1018.
“My philosophy of care is to always be open and honest with my patients,” shares Steven Vilensky, MD. “I strongly believe in the shared decision making process when it comes to healthcare. Involving the patient and the family in care planning is essential.” Dr. Vilensky sees patients at Mount Nittany Physician Group Pulmonary Medicine and the critical care department at Mount Nittany Medical Center.
