The 31st Annual Mount Nittany Health Golf Classic will be held Saturday, August 7, at the Penn State Golf Courses, with a shotgun start at 11 a.m. Mount Nittany Health Foundation is pleased to invite golfers of all skill levels to enjoy a day on the greens supporting lifesaving cardiovascular services at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Mount Nittany Medical Center opened a 26,000-square-foot cardiovascular pavilion last September that features a state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization lab and electrophysiology lab with the latest imaging and monitoring capabilities.

“I was very lucky,” shares Gerald Hoy, a recent cardiac arrest survivor who received his lifesaving treatment at Mount Nittany Medical Center’s cardiovascular pavilion. “I was in the right place, and I couldn’t have gotten better care. The doctors did a great job, and I couldn’t ask for nicer nurses. They were excellent.”

To ensure we hear more stories like Gerald’s in the future, the all-volunteer committee of the Golf Classic pledged to raise $1 million to support the cardiovascular pavilion. To date, the committee and the Golf Classic have raised more than $840,000 toward that goal.

The Golf Classic is always a great day for a great cause. Team prizes for each flight will be awarded to the 16 winning teams placing first through fourth in both net and gross scores on each course. Prizes will be awarded on - both courses for the longest drive, straightest drive, closest to the pin, and longest putt. The event also features a putting contest sponsored by Juniper Village at Brookline.

Participating golfers will enjoy golf, lunch sponsored by Urbn Flavourhaus, a commemorative gift sponsored by Alexander Building Construction - A Butz Family Company, as well as beverages and snacks sponsored by Abarta Coca-Cola and AVI Foodsystems. A post-play reception and dinner awards ceremony will be held, sponsored by Curtze Food Service.

More than $2.9 million has been raised at the Mount Nittany Health Golf Classic since 1991 to support lifesaving technology, program improvements, and facility upgrades to advance care for the region.
