Kay Kustanbauter


Kay Kustanbauter was a member of Penn State’s athletic staff for nearly 34 years. In 2005, she retired from the position of Executive Director of the Nittany Lion Club, a job she had held since 1989. As Executive Director of the Nittany Lion Club, Kustanbauter had principal responsibility for the management and coordination of all Nittany Lion Club fundraising activity, raising between $9- $10 million annually in support of student-athletes across all athletic programs. 

Kustanbauter received many accolades for her work in development. In 2000 she received the Fund Raiser of the Year Award given by the National Association of Athletic Development Directors for her significant contributions and dedication to that profession.  That same year, she also received the Ridge Riley Lions Pride Award by Penn State’s Division of Development and Alumni Relations. Most recently she was named Renaissance Honoree by Penn State, and served on the Athletic Volunteer Committee for Penn State’s $2 billion campaign.   

She is active in the State College community, as well, serving on the following boards and committees: Youth Service Bureau, Centre Foundation, and Pennsylvania Pink Zone. Previous volunteer service has included Centre for the Performing Arts Community Council, M & T Bank Business Development Board, Healing Art Works Board, and Easter Seals Community Council. 

Kay volunteers regularly in the Gift Shop at Mount Nittany Medical Center, and serves on the Golf Classic Committee for the Foundation.
