The 29th Annual Mount Nittany Health Golf Classic will be held Saturday, August 10, at the Penn State Blue & White Golf Courses, with a shotgun start beginning promptly at 11:00 am.

Funds raised from this four-person scramble tournament will benefit the cardiovascular pavilion at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Scheduled to open in September, the 26,000-square-foot cardiovascular pavilion will include an updated cardiac catheterization lab and electrophysiology lab spaces, complete with new imaging and monitoring technology. With the patient experience in mind, a large waiting area, situated within the sunlight structure; eight to ten convenient flex bay patient areas; and bright, comfortable patient meeting areas are just some of the updated features that will help us serve the growing number of people who trust the health system with their heart.

Team prizes for each flight will be awarded to the 16 winning teams placing first through fourth in both net and gross scores on each course. Prizes will be awarded for each course for the longest drive, straightest drive, closest to the pin, and longest putt. The event will also feature a putting contest with cash prizes and the drawing of one registered golfer for a grand prize of $12,000 or a 2019 Chevrolet Spark.

There will also be a raffle for a chance to win a one-week stay in St. John in the US Virgin Islands. The trip includes a seven-night stay at Turtle’s Nest Villa, 4WD Jeep rental, charter excursion to the British Virgin Islands, and stand up paddleboard and snorkel gear rental for the week. Turtle’s Nest Villa offers accommodations for two guests (children under 12 included) within walking distance to Fish Bay and several hiking trails, and within a 10-minute drive to Cruz Bay and Coral Bay. Only 250 tickets will be sold at $100/ticket. Visit foundation.mountnittany.org/golfclassic to purchase a chance.

All participating golfers will enjoy a round of golf, lunch courtesy of Troy’s Philadelphia-Style Hoagies, commemorative gift sponsored by Alexander Building Construction - A Butz Family Company, and in-cart refreshments and snacks. A post-play reception and dinner awards ceremony will be held, sponsored by Curtze Food Service.

Having raised more than $2.5 million since its inception in 1991, the Golf Classic supports critical programs and equipment purchases at Mount Nittany Medical Center, benefiting patients across the region. The Golf Classic committee is committed to raising $1 million by 2020 for the cardiovascular pavilion. To date, the committee has raised more than $650,000 toward that goal.

Golf Classic attendees can participate through volunteering, sponsorship and individual golfer opportunities. Additionally, golfers and non-golfers alike can participate in an online auction beginning Tuesday, July 30, through Tuesday, August 13, at noon by visiting biddingforgood.com/mnmc.
