On March 30, Mount Nittany Health will join countless other organizations across the country in celebration of National Doctors’ Day. Locally, Mount Nittany Health is recognizing and thanking the more than 370 talented physicians committed to providing exceptional care to the people of our region.

National Doctors’ Day was first established in 1991 to pay special tribute to physicians for the exceptional role they play in healing. The proclamation states, “More than the application of science and technology, medicine is a special calling, and those who have chosen this vocation in order to serve their fellow man understand the tremendous responsibility it entails.”

Each year, Mount Nittany Health Foundation hosts an annual Doctors’ Day Appeal, encouraging individuals to respond with a tribute gift recognizing their physicians. Donors designate funds to the programs of their choice, ultimately advancing care at Mount Nittany Health. Since 2011 – the first year for the appeal – a total of 930 donors have gifted $228,939 to the cause.

While these special men and women deserve recognition every day, all are encouraged to take an extra moment on March 30 to thank a physician.
