On October 17, the State College Spikes donated more than $6,428 to Mount Nittany Health Foundation, benefitting the Mount Nittany Health Breast Care Center.
The funds were raised through two annual State College Spikes events: SpikesFest held on March 5 and Paint the Park Pink Night, held on July 30. Since 2007, the Spikes have gifted more than $75,000 to the Foundation to support the fight against breast cancer.
"It is our mission at the State College Spikes to not only provide fun, family entertainment, but to serve a greater purpose in our community as well,” said Scott Walker, general manager, State College Spikes. “Medlar Field at Lubrano Park is a place where we come together with our friends, our family and our neighbors, and it is a privilege and an honor to partner with Mount Nittany Health to focus our collective efforts on battling breast cancer and paying tribute to those who have bravely fought and continue to fight this disease."
The Mount Nittany Health Breast Care Center offers the means to address breast health concerns by providing a range of diagnostic services. Allison Yingling, MD, and Anna Hood, MD, board-certified radiologists with fellowship training in breast imaging, work closely with patients for breast imaging needs such as 3D mammography, digital mammograms, breast ultrasounds, breast MRI interpretation, needle localizations and biopsies.
