The State College Area High School Girls’ Basketball team held its annual Pink Out game on Tuesday, January 29, against Altoona, raising $3,853 for Mount Nittany Health Breast Care Center.
The team and booster club put together more than 25 baskets, which were raffled off during the game. Since 2010, the State College Girls’ Basketball booster club program has raised more than $57,000 for the Breast Care Center.
Players, coaches and parents have been passionate about raising money for breast cancer at the annual Pink Out events. The team held the 8thannual Pink Out basketball skills clinic last November where more than 100 area youth in grades 1st through 8th learned basketball skills from members of both the girls’ and boys’ State College basketball teams.
“Our goal is to impress upon our players and fans that the challenges we face on the basketball court are minor compared to the challenges many men and women face when confronted with cancer, says Karen Gregg, booster club president.
