During Mount Nittany Medical Center's medical staff semi-annual meeting last December, Wayne Sebastianelli, MD, was celebrated for his 20 years of service, 16 of which he served as chief of staff. Mount Nittany Medical Center's medical staff encompasses all physicians with admitting privileges to treat patients at the Medical Center. This includes independent physicians and physicians from other health systems.

"Dr. Sebastianelli's commitment to quality patient care, and the 20 years he dedicated to leading our medical staff, cannot be overstated. I join the rest of the medical staff in honoring his long-standing service," shares Bridget Flickinger, MD, treasurer, medical staff, Mount Nittany Medical Center.

To honor Dr. Sebastianelli's extraordinary service, the medical staff created the Dr. Wayne J. Sebastianelli Fund for Leadership Development at the Mount Nittany Health Foundation with a gift of $10,000. The fund not only honors its namesake, but will expand opportunities for Mount Nittany Health physicians and advanced practice providers to deepen the development of their leadership skills.

"We are grateful for Dr. Sebastianelli's outstanding leadership as chief of staff. There can be no greater recognition of his own leadership than ensuring that future physicians and advanced practice providers continue to develop leadership skills. I'm pleased to share that Mount Nittany Health also contributed $5,000 to the fund in recognition of Dr. Sebastianelli's service to our patients, the community, and to the Medical Center," states Kathleen Rhine, president and CEO, Mount Nittany Health.

Currently, donations to the fund will be matched dollar for dollar up to $10,000 in total donations by Dr. Wayne and Michele Sebastianelli. Gifts to Dr. Wayne J. Sebastianelli Fund for Leadership Development are an investment in leadership training for current and future clinicians – further preparing them to serve in various leadership roles and responsibilities - and one day, hopefully, taking on the role of chief of staff as Dr. Sebastianelli did.
