Joe Yindra, RN, is a wonderful asset to Mount Nittany Medical Center’s Emergency Department. He continually goes above and beyond for his patients, providing five-star quality care, and he is routinely recognized by his colleagues for being an exceptional clinician. Recently, Joe was honored with a DAISY Award for exceeding the expectations of a patient being treated at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Joe is special to me because he did his job while showing me complete dignity and respect,” said his nominator. “He was very skillful at his job, performing procedures while causing the least amount of pain or harm. This sounds little, but Joe was able to insert an IV without difficulty, an accomplishment on my arms. He said if he thought he could not insert it easily, he would seek help. It was a sign he knew his boundaries and limitations. Joe had a good sense of humor which made my experience in the ER just a bit better.

Joe has been providing outstanding care in the Emergency Department for nearly three years. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Delaware in 1983. When he decided to switch careers, he served the community as a CNA, an LPN, and earned an RN degree from Excelsior College in 2003.

Joe was humbled and honored to be selected as a DAISY Award winner. He said, “I was shocked, then proud that I had touched someone enough for them to nominate me. I love the pace of my work, and the variety of cases I see in the Emergency Department.

When he is not busy providing exceptional community care, Joe enjoys being outdoors and working with his hands. He loves sailing, and is currently building a small sailboat for when he retires. He appreciates the love and support of his wife, Mina, and his two rescue dogs, Oliver and Thatcher.

Please join us in applauding Joe for epitomizing the core values of caring, excellence, and respect, and for being a DAISY Award Recipient. Joe, thank you for your commitment to providing compassionate care and for contributing to our mission of “Healthier people, stronger community.”
