Golf Classic 2022

Golf Classic 2022

Since 1991, the Mount Nittany Health Foundation Annual Golf Classic has raised over $3 million to increase the scope and quality of care to meet the healthcare needs of the community. Each year the Golf Classic provides an opportunity for donors to enjoy a day on the greens with Mount Nittany Health providers and directly support access to world-class healthcare in the region.

Proceeds from this year’s event will support expanding and updating the physical therapy space in Mount Nittany Health’s new Outpatient Center being built in Toftrees West. New equipment and state-of-the-art technologies will offer patients new treatment options and therapies, increase the capacity to serve more in our community and help improve patient experience.

The new space will allow Mount Nittany Health - Fit for Play, our physical therapy department, to expand the Balance & Fall Prevention Program with equipment that can measurably show patients getting better, faster. Proceeds from this year’s Golf Classic will also support the purchase of specialized treadmills that combine audio cueing, visual biofeedback and music-assisted therapy integration, to help promote neuroplasticity and create new pathways to movement.

The Fit for Play space will include upgraded equipment and the addition of a dedicated functional fitness area to expand our reach to larger segments of the community. Fit for Play will be able to provide a wealth of different services for everyone from student athletes to an active older adult population.

The new space will also feature better sightlines for improved patient supervision, new adjustable tables allowing for increased patient comfort and accessibility, and an open concept to enhance patient and staff engagement.

The Golf Classic has helped supply critical funding to Mount Nittany Health for the past 32 years, from the state-of-the-art Lance and Ellen Shaner Cancer Pavilion to the region’s only Cardiac Catheterization Lab. From critical care transport vehicles to an intravascular ultrasound imaging system, the Golf Classic has supported Mount Nittany Health’s best-in-class healthcare by providing new equipment, locations, and services for the community. Over the past decade, the Golf Classic has raised funds for the following projects:

  • 2012: The Lance and Ellen Shaner Cancer Pavilion
  • 2013: Bronchial Thermoplasty for Patients with Severe Asthma
  • 2014: Healing Garden at Mount Nittany Medical Center
  • 2015-2018: Cardiac Catheterization Lab
  • 2019: Cardiovascular pavilion at Mount Nittany Medical Center
  • 2020: Mount Nittany Health COVID-19 Response Fund
  • 2021: Cardiovascular Services
