Volunteer Program Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does Mount Nittany Health require volunteers to be vaccinated against COVID-19?
A: It is not required that Mount Nittany Health volunteers be vaccinated against COVID-19, but it is strongly encouraged.

Q: Is Mount Nittany Health offering clinics so that I can get vaccinated?
A: Yes. Please visit mountnittany.org and click on the COVID-19 link to sign up for one of our upcoming community clinics.

Q: What does fully vaccinated mean?
A:
To be considered fully vaccinated, volunteers will have completed the primary vaccination series (1 dose of Johnson & Johnson, or two doses of Pfizer or Moderna)

Q: If I am not fully vaccinated, what do I need to do?
A: Mount Nittany Health Volunteers are subject to all Mount Nittany Health policies just like employees. Until otherwise designated by Mount Nittany Health, any volunteer who is not fully vaccinated will be required to do the following:

  1. Wear a procedural mask and eye protection while in any Mount Nittany Health building.
    • Procedural masks are to be worn appropriately, including having mouth and nose covered.
    • Eye protection is defined as Mount Nittany Health approved face shield, Mount Nittany Health issued reusable goggles or safety glasses, or Mount Nittany Health issued disposable safety glasses. Eye glasses do not qualify.
  2. Eye protection must be worn during your entire shift.

Q: What serves as proof of vaccination?
A: You can submit a legible scan or photo of your CDC COVID-19 Vaccination card, documentation from a health care provider or electronic health record, or a state immunization information system record as proof of your vaccination.  This can be emailed to wendy.garlock@mountnittany.org, mailed or hand delivered to:

Q: If I served as a volunteer previously, why do I need to reapply?
A: Because it has been nearly two years since volunteer services have been fully operational, we will need all volunteers to reapply to ensure we are compliant with hospital regulations.  Everyone will be required to participate in an orientation/annual education session.
